and management are essential to prevent the spread of diseases, contamination
of soil and water, and the release of harmful substances. Effective waste
management includes waste reduction, recycling, safe disposal, and the
treatment of hazardous waste.
·
Vector Control: Controlling
disease-carrying vectors such as mosquitoes, ticks, and rodents is an important
aspect of environmental health. Strategies include habitat management, vector
surveillance, use of insecticides, and public education to prevent the
transmission of vector-borne diseases.
·
Occupational Health: Environmental
health extends to workplaces, focusing on ensuring the safety and well-being of
workers. This involves assessing and managing workplace hazards, ergonomic
considerations, exposure to toxic substances, and promoting practices that
safeguard occupational health.
·
Climate Change and Resilience:
Environmental health also addresses the health impacts of climate change,
including extreme weather events, rising temperatures, changing disease
patterns, and their effects on vulnerable populations. It emphasizes adaptation
strategies, resilience-building, and mitigation efforts to reduce greenhouse
gas emissions.
2)
Public Health: MRH is poised towards fostering
evidenced-based researches and collaboration among Public health professionals,
healthcare providers, policymakers, communities, and other stakeholders to
create healthier environments and reduce health disparities in the under listed
aspects of Public health.

causes, and effects of health-related conditions and events in populations. It
involves tracking diseases, identifying risk factors, and designing
interventions to prevent and control them.
·
Disease Prevention and Control: Public
health aims to prevent the occurrence of diseases and reduce their impact
through strategies such as vaccinations, health education, and promotion of
healthy behaviors. It also involves surveillance and response to outbreaks and
infectious diseases.
·
Environmental Health: This field focuses
on assessing and managing environmental factors that can affect human health,
such as air and water quality, hazardous substances, food safety, and
occupational health and safety.
·
Health Promotion and Education: Public
health encourages healthy behaviors and lifestyles through educational
campaigns, community programs, and policy initiatives. It aims to empower
individuals and communities to make informed choices that improve their overall
well-being.
·
Maternal and Child Health: Public health
efforts target the health and well-being of women during pregnancy, childbirth,
and the early stages of life. This includes prenatal care, immunizations,
nutrition, breastfeeding support, and early childhood development programs.
·
Social Determinants of Health: Public
health recognizes that factors like socioeconomic status, education, housing,
and access to healthcare significantly impact health outcomes. Addressing these
social determinants of health is crucial to reducing health disparities and
promoting health equity.
·
Health Policy and Management: Public
health professionals work on developing and implementing policies, regulations,
and systems to improve the delivery of healthcare services, ensure quality, and
enhance healthcare access and affordability.
·
